Rural King has opened its doors at Mount Berry Mall, bringing a major new anchor tenant to Rome's only enclosed mall.
The store began a soft-opening phase March 19, with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Rome Floyd Chamber scheduled for Friday, March 27. Grand opening festivities will run March 27–29, featuring special offers throughout the store.
The addition of the roughly 90,000-square-foot store was announced last June, and demolition of the old space and construction were completed in less than nine months. The store includes 35,000 square feet of outdoor space on the north side of the mall for displaying tractors and other heavy equipment. It occupies the former Sears location.
The Rome location, at 2770 Martha Berry Highway NE, carries farm and home essentials including livestock and pet supplies, workwear, power equipment, tools, automotive products and seasonal merchandise.
Rural King joins Belk and Dunham's Sports as anchor tenants at Mount Berry Mall. Reaction from shoppers has been enthusiastic. "This is a huge win for Rome and Floyd County, and especially the mall," said Jordan Ryle, a Rome-area resident who visited the store during its opening days.
A family-owned retailer serving rural America since 1960, Rural King has expanded its reach across the South in recent years. It is open everyday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
