Stein Mart to fill anchor bay at Auburn Mall

Hull Property Group announced today that Stein Mart will be joining the Auburn Mall. The store will occupy approximately 32,000 square feet in the anchor space formerly occupied by Sears. Stein Mart stores offer the fashion merchandise, service and presentation of a better department or specialty store, at prices competitive with off-price retail chains.

“Stein Mart coming to Auburn would not have happened without the encouragement and support of Phillip Dunlap and Megan McGowan of the Auburn Economic Development Office and Mayor Bill Ham. We have worked closely together to attract quality tenants to the Mall and the surrounding retail node in pursuit of developing a first class shopping corridor here in Auburn,” said Jim Hull, Managing Principal of Hull Property Group. “With the recent addition of Krispy Kreme, Walmart Neighborhood Market, BigD auditorium at Auburn’s Wynnsong 14 theatre and today’s announcement of the new Stein Mart, we are excited about what can be accomplished in this key retail area of the Auburn community. These recent enhancements and positive momentum will begin a virtuous cycle of retailers and restauranteurs wanting to co-locate at the Mall and within this prominent retail node.”

With 283 locations from California to Massachusetts, Stein Mart’s focused assortment of merchandise features current season, moderate to better fashion apparel for women and men, as well as accessories, shoes and home fashions. Auburn’s new Stein Mart store will have both an exterior entrance and interior entrance into the Mall.

“Stein Mart is a strong national retailer and we are thrilled for the store to join the other top fashion department stores located at the Auburn Mall. We have been disciplined in our approach to attract only the right tenants to the property in order to continue the development of the Mall as a powerful retail and restaurant center. This is another big step toward realizing the potential of the Mall and the surrounding retail node,” said Ky Widener, Senior Vice President of Leasing for Hull Property Group.

The new Stein Mart will occupy a portion of the anchor bay formerly occupied by Sears. Construction on the new Stein Mart will begin soon with the new store expected to open no later than fall 2017. The remaining portion of the bay will be marketed to potential tenants with room to develop additional tenant offerings to support restaurant projects and medium and small shop retail.
